A Wet & Wild Come-Back Story about the Anacostia River on Aug 16

When: August 16, 7:00 PM
Where: Virtual
Member Ticket: $15
Non-Member Ticket: $25

For more than three decades, the Anacostia Watershed Society (AWS) has been working on recovering the Anacostia River's ecosystems, especially its natural filters. After decades of restoration, education and advocacy work we are seeing a great recovery of the biodiversity of the aquatic ecosystems in the Anacostia River. This presentation will be a virtual tour to the river and a tale of recovery of what once was a neglected urban waterway in the nation's capital.

Learn about Fall Warblers with Bill Young on Aug 25

When: August 25, 7:00 PM
Where: Virtual
Member Ticket: $15
Non-Member Ticket: $25

Fall bird migration is almost upon us! Bill Young, who taught ASNV’s four-session course about warblers this past spring, is back with a helpful 90-minute class about fall warblers. The peak time to see fall warblers is from the second week in September through the first week in October. Some warbler species have similar plumage in the fall and spring, while others look very different. Join us for Bill’s review of the species you could see migrating through Northern Virginia. The program will conclude with a quiz so you will know which species you need to study before hitting the trails.
