Team,

Nearly a year ago, I was sworn in during a government shutdown. And not long after that, I introduced my first bill: the Shutdown To End All Shutdowns (SEAS) Act.

Now, with the possibility of another senseless government shutdown looming, I'm reminded of how critical this legislation is.

Shutting down the government is a horrible negotiating tactic and, frankly, is irresponsible and ineffective. Millions of American families would be adversely affected again if and when our government fails to meet its most basic responsibilities.

Stand with me and become a citizen co-sponsor of the Shutdown To End All Shutdowns (SEAS) Act to help me send a message that we are better than this. [[link removed]]

We cannot let our government be needlessly shut down as a pointless negotiating tactic. This bill will prevent politicians from using the livelihoods of American families as a negotiating tactic and, instead, put the pain of stalled negotiations on the Executive and Legislative branches where it belongs.

After all, we are in Congress to serve, and we must do that.

Thank you for standing with me.

We've got work to do,
