During my time as an undercover investigator, I witnessed the misery that farmed animals are forced to live through. For years, I navigated the world of animal agriculture, where farmed animals are born into a cruel system of exploitation and suffer their entire lives in the name of human consumption.

I encountered so many animals, none of whom deserved the horrific treatment they were subjected to. It was hard not to shield them from abuse and mistreatment. I wanted to save them all.

One of the most difficult investigations for me was at Martin Farms ([link removed]) , a dairy in Pennsylvania, where I documented exhausted cows unable to walk or stand being dragged by tractors, sick cows being hit, kicked and stomped on, and baby calves being restrained as workers pressed hot irons into their skulls to burn away their sensitive horn tissue with no anesthesia. I can still hear the sound of their teeth grinding together to brace themselves against the pain and still struggle to watch the footage from that investigation.

Bearing witness to their suffering is difficult, but it serves an important purpose. We need to share these animals’ stories to show the world the truth that we already know: no animal should ever face these cruelties. That’s why I need your support. When Animal Outlook turned in hours of video evidence, the Pennsylvania State Police refused to take action. Still, our legal team persisted and appealed to the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, where three judges decided that the Franklin County District Attorney's Office must file criminal charges against Martin Farms for animal abuse. This historic decision has set a new precedent for how farmed animals are treated in Pennsylvania and leaves me hopeful for the future.

Regardless of the outcome of any investigation, these individual animals deserve to be seen, and they deserve to be heard. That is why we continue fighting for them, even when the odds are stacked against us, facing a massive industry trying to keep us entrenched in the past. Because when we follow through with our dedication to defying the odds, we can achieve positive change.
