Since these letters to the editor got published, the Senate has passed historic climate legislation. If signed into law, the bill, formally known as the Inflation Reduction Act, would allocate $369 billion to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and investing in renewable energy sources. While this is an important opportunity, there's still a lot to do - especially to hold the fossil fuel industry accountable.

A big part of winning the fight against the fossil fuel industry is about winning the media fight. Fossil fuel companies spend billions of dollars hiring PR firms to confuse the public and spread disinformation. It’s our job to set the record straight.

The media needs to make one thing about extreme weather very clear: the fossil fuel industry is to blame.
