Representative Jamaal Bowman has introduced the Emergency Price Stabilization Act of 2022. This legislation targets the root causes of price-gouging, creates strong mechanisms to investigate how and why prices are rising and provides relief to workers, renters, and consumers during price shocks.
Monitor and analyze price changes related to goods and services, including food and energy, housing, health care, and transportation.
Proactively investigate corporate profiteering by using subpoena power to open up and examine corporate books.
Make recommendations to the President for appropriate, strategic controls and regulations.
Engage and mobilize the public as part of the process of monitoring and regulating prices.
