John,

If we want to fix America's broken elections, we need to start building
momentum right now for the campaigns that will win in 2024.

We've already seen a trend coming to life: city by city, state by state,
people are coming together to pass laws that beat back special interests
and the two-party duopoly. But we need to start preparing now for the next
election cycle, and we know from experience that it can take two years to
launch a new campaign.

We can’t do it alone. We’re counting on our Common Wealth community, a
dedicated group of donors who make a gift each month to directly support
our frontline campaigns. Their commitment ensures we have the resources to
scale up our campaigns knowing that we have the funds to keep the momentum
going for the long term.

Common Wealth and take your support to the next level?

Solutions like Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) are the antidote to politicians
being held hostage by special interests. RCV allows voters to rank
candidates from favorite to least favorite on the ballot. If your top
candidate doesn’t win, your vote still counts toward your second
preference.

This system encourages candidates to run positive, issue-based campaigns
as they compete for second-choice votes, instead of attacking their
opponent and alienating potential supporters like you. With RCV, you can
honestly rank candidates in order of choice, rather than worrying about
who is more or less likely to win. And it cuts down expenses big-time by
eliminating the need for primaries or runoffs because all the candidates
can be on one ballot for the general election!

We’re already building powerful momentum behind RCV in states like
Colorado. Working with partners and volunteers on the ground, we helped
pass RCV in the city of Boulder in 2020, and in 2021 we continued the
trend in Broomfield, passing RCV for city elections. Now, we’re working in
Fort Collins to pass RCV on the ballot this November – but we can’t stop
there.

We’re building a trend, passing laws that will strengthen our democracy
and we can’t afford to slow down now. [ [link removed] ]There couldn’t be a better time
to start your monthly commitment and join the Common Wealth community. I
hope you do, so you can be a part of helping win critical campaigns.

Let’s get to work,

Megan Caska
