John,

We are grieving for Jersey City, where six people were killed on Tuesday in an anti-Semitic hate crime that shattered a tight-knit community.

We are still learning the details, but we now know that the killing spree began with the shooting of a veteran police officer and then the assailants headed to a family-owned kosher market where they opened fire in a vicious act of anti-Semitic violence.

Once again, we bear witness to the deadly consequences of hate fueled by a gun.

In Washington state, we have been working hard on this issue, strengthening our hate crime statutes, creating new tools to keep guns out of dangerous hands, and just last month we convened a summit on hate and gun violence.

Meanwhile at the federal level, nothing has changed. Orlando, Charleston, Pittsburgh, El Paso, and countless other hate-fueled shootings have been met with nothing but inaction from Congress.

Please help us continue to fight hate and gun violence by making a donation today. We’re doing everything we can to keep guns out of the hands of hateful people and to create a future where every one of us can live free from the fear of gun violence.

Thank you for standing with us and with Jersey City,
Renée
