JOHN,
The results are in – and Vermont voters have made their choice.
Earlier tonight, I called Senator Balint to concede the race and congratulate her on her victory. Although tonight didn’t go the way we hoped, I want to extend my deepest appreciation and most heartfelt thanks to our entire team, volunteers, supporters, and voters from every corner of this state.
No matter what each day brought, we kept our focus on what matters most: doing the hard work and giving Vermonters a choice.
This team accomplished a lot. We notched key endorsements, including major unions and beloved Vermont leaders like Howard Dean and Madeleine Kunin. We consistently met our fundraising goals. Our field team held thousands of voter conversations, keeping this election competitive in the face of a tsunami of outside spending.
We left it all on the field. I couldn’t be prouder of this team.
On a personal note, if someone had told me years ago that running for Congress was something that a farm kid from Newbury could do, I wouldn't have believed it. I will always be proud of the choice we gave Vermonters, and grateful for the chance to be part of a conversation about the future of this state I love so very, very much.
It remains the honor of my life to serve as Vermont's Lieutenant Governor. I look forward to continuing to serve the people of this state I love.
My sincere thanks again for believing in me, this team, and the next generation.
Yours in gratitude,
Molly
