John,
Climate change is causing severe weather events across the country to become more frequent and more extreme — from devastating hurricanes in the southeast, to uncontrollable wildfires here in California.
Eastern Kentucky was the latest region to bear the worst impacts of the climate crisis with deadly flooding dating back to July.
At least 37 people have lost their lives. Thousands have lost their homes.
With even more severe storms and flash flooding forecasted to strike soon, your support will go a long way towards funding critical relief efforts in Eastern Kentucky.
The Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky is home to the largest mutual response in the area. They provide emergency relief grants to individuals and families, local and grassroots nonprofits, small family farmers, and to small businesses — sending checks directly to impacted people.
As the recovery work in Eastern Kentucky continues, every bit of support will make a difference. Will you make a donation to the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky to assist their flood relief efforts?
Thank you for helping out where you can. It’ll take all of us working together and looking out for one another to not only deliver the climate policies we need to make our communities more resilient to severe weather events, but support those already feeling the effects of the climate crisis.
In solidarity,
Barbara Lee
