Dear ,

Having a place to call home is a fundamental human right at the root of every person’s ability to live with dignity. It is the cornerstone of safety and community. That’s why the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) is raising the bar for housing justice across the country as we head into 2020.

In 2019 alone, the CPD Network fought back challenges from corporate landlords and profit-driven policymakers to protect more than 10 million tenants across the country, from New York to Nevada and California.

Too many people are forced to lay their foundation on shaky ground. Because of outrageous rent hikes, poorly-maintained and underfunded public housing, racial segregation of neighborhoods, increasing urban displacement, and corporate tax and land giveaways, more and more people in this country lack a home to thrive.

But with your support, despite this difficult political moment, we shifted the idea of what is possible for just housing in the U.S. and won critical victories for our communities — from landmark renter protections to eviction reform and beyond. We introduced historic legislation in partnership with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, taking our fight for tenant’s rights to the federal level, and our bold, visionary platform influenced major presidential candidates and changed the national conversation about housing justice.

[We couldn’t have done it without you. I urge you to please stand with our housing justice campaign by making a contribution to protect tenants everywhere.]([link removed])

In 2020, we will continue to demand dignity for our communities. Together, we can curb displacement and foreclosures, reduce evictions and homelessness, and rein in corporate landlords. We can build a future of housing stability for all.
