John, breaking news:
Abbott has finally agreed to join Beto for a debate.
But one single debate isn’t enough. That’s why Beto is looking forward to holding Abbott accountable for his indefensible record during THREE town hall-style debates across the state where they'll both take questions directly from voters.
While Beto has held 80 town hall meetings during the general election, Abbott has not held public town halls where he takes questions in person. When he doesn’t bother to show up and learn from communities across Texas, we get his indefensible record. Here are a few of his notable failures:
Property taxes are up 40% since Abbott took office
We’ve seen an average increase of $45 a month on our energy bills following his deadly power grid failure
He signed the nation’s most extreme abortion ban into law with no exception for rape or incest
The state’s minimum wage has not budged a penny in 13 years as four out of 10 working Texans don’t make a living wage
Abbott has attacked on teachers who are already underpaid and under-resourced
He has taken no action on bipartisan, commonsense measures to protect our children after six major mass shootings took place on his watch
Thankful for you, John.
