Team, we did it.

On Sunday, we passed the Inflation Reduction Act, a key part of Senate Democrats’ agenda on climate, deficit reduction, prescription drug prices, and inflation. It took months of hard work, but I never gave up hope that this moment was possible. I’m proud to have worked to get it across the finish line.

The bill is now headed to the House, and we need to make sure my colleagues know how important it is to move fast.

Ask me what I like best about this bill and I don’t think I’d be able to answer you. In just one bill we’ve managed to:

* Cut the deficit by $300+ billion — a move that should help ease inflation. 
* Make the most impactful investment in fighting climate change in our history. We’re going to cut emissions by a whopping 40%.
* Lower the cost of prescription drugs and health insurance premiums.
* Make corporations pay their fair share in taxes.

You can see why I’m eager for the House to pass this bill and for President Biden to sign it into law. This is a bill that will help so many Americans now and for generations to come.

Even with this victory, there is more work to do. I still cannot believe Republicans were able to strip a cap on the cost of insulin from this bill. I’ve not given up on that fight — not when so many lives are at stake.
