FRANK PALLOTTA CONDEMNS GOTTHEIMER’S
ALL-OUT HYPOCRISY ON S.A.L.T. DEDUCTIONS
RAMSEY, N.J. – AUGUST 9, 2022 – Republican Congressional Candidate Frank Pallotta (N.J.-05) issued the following statement on Rep. Josh Gottheimer’s hypocritical about-face on SALT deductions in Democrats’ new tax-and-spend bill:
“For the last 5 years, Congressman Gottheimer has bemoaned the cap on State and Local Tax (SALT) deductions in the federal tax code. I join him in his frustrations, but would not join him in his lack of action on the issue.
In March 2021, when Democrats were plotting their massive 3.5 trillion dollar spending package (known as the ‘Build Back Broke’ bill), Gottheimer famously declared that he would not support any bill that did not fully restore SALT deductions: ‘No SALT, No Dice // No SALT, No Deal!’ he said. In April 2021, he doubled down at a press conference right here in New Jersey: ‘No SALT, no dice.’ In October 2021, the same thing: ‘No SALT, no dice!’ January of this year? You guessed it: ‘No SALT, no deal.’ No matter. In November 2021, Josh voted for the Build Back Broke bill anyway—with no removal of the SALT cap. Having not yet learned his lesson, when confronted with the Democrats’ latest spending spree legislation just last month, Josh repeated the same old line: ‘No SALT, no dice.’
But this week, Josh announced he would vote for the Inflation Increase Act that just passed the Senate. ‘No SALT, no deal is no more,’ reported Lindsey McPherson of CQ Roll Call as she broke the news of Gottheimer’s total reversal.
Rep. Gottheimer has abandoned his constituents once again, putting us on the line for Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi’s wildest spending desires. Either Josh is caving to the radical left, or he never intended to keep his word in the first place. I’m not sure which is worse.
The Congressman’s talk about being bipartisan and a “problem solver”, is just that—talk. He’s all talk, with no substance.”
