John,
The U.S. House is expected to vote on the Senate-passed climate, tax and health care package this Friday. Vice President Harris was the tie-breaking vote in the Senate, and with voting margins really tight in the House, our representatives need to hear from us immediately to pass the bill.
We know they’re hearing from Big Pharma, Big Oil, and Wall Street lobbyists who are working to kill the bill. Let’s drown out their Big Money with the voices of everyday people!

This bill contains many sought-after goals including prescription drug reform that allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices and caps how much Medicare recipients have to pay out-of-pocket for prescription drugs each year. It limits insulin costs to $35 per prescription for over 3 million Medicare recipients.
It makes historic investments in combating the climate crisis and lowering carbon emissions, including substantial help for homeowners to purchase heat pumps, solar panels, and other upgrades to cheaper, renewable energy. It targets help to low-income communities, disproportionately home to people of color, to reduce dangerous pollution and to provide renewable energy sources.
It extends health care subsidies that help make health insurance through the Affordable Care Act more affordable for 13 million Americans. Without this bill, a family of four with a $45,000 income would see their annual premium jump more than $1,900. That’s just one example of the savings this bill ensures.
And, it’s completely paid for by implementing a 15% corporate minimum tax on billion-dollar corporations, by creating a 1% tax on stock buybacks that publicly traded corporations use to enrich shareholders and CEOs at the expense of their employees, and by giving the IRS the resources it needs to crack down on wealthy and corporate tax cheats.
Click here to write to your representative right now and urge them to vote YES on the Inflation Reduction Act this Friday―historic legislation that lowers costs for working people, older Americans, and marginalized communities, and is completely paid for by making the rich and corporations pay more of their fair share.
While there’s much more that we’re fighting for, for the human needs of millions of people, this legislation represents a big victory. Let’s get it across the finish line, and then never give up fighting for poor, working, and marginalized communities.
Thank you,
Deborah Weinstein Executive Director, Coalition on Human Needs
