The American Lung Association recently released their annual air quality report, and frankly, we’re STUNNED:

They found that the San Joaquin Valley has the worst air quality in the ENTIRE COUNTRY.

This air pollution is known to cause asthma, heart attacks, lung cancer, and even death. And it’s having a devastating impact on the health of Central Californians, especially Black and Indigenous people, people of color, and low-income communities. 

That’s why we’re rallying support for AB 2550, a new bill that would improve the air quality in the San Joaquin Valley.

Here’s what this essential bill will do:

The bill would require the state agency that regulates air pollution (the California Air Resources Board) and the San Joaquin Valley Air District to engage environmental justice communities and community-based organizations to identify gaps in existing plans and to develop better regulations that are necessary to improve air quality to meet national standards.

The San Joaquin Valley air pollution issue is a SERIOUS crisis, and it’s an ugly stain on California’s environmental efforts.

We need to put pressure on our legislators to pass AB 2550 and ensure that everyone in the San Joaquin Valley can breathe clean air.
