Aug. 9, 2022 – Ed Feulner, who co-founded and led the influential Heritage Foundation for decades, will deliver the keynote address at the Badger Institute’s Annual Dinner on Oct. 11. Feulner will discuss governing principals and policy strategies, drawing on his experience as one of the leading conservative voices of the past century and architect of significant reforms in Washington, D.C.

“Ed was the mastermind behind much of what came to be known as the Reagan Revolution,” says Badger Institute President Mike Nichols. “He and his team drafted the Mandate for Leadership that served as a blueprint for much of the Reagan administration’s agenda – as well as those of subsequent administrations. Their success was part of the inspiration behind the Badger Institute’s Mandate for Madison, a roadmap designed to help the next governor of Wisconsin and legislators lead the state out of the stagnation of the past few years.”

The Annual Dinner will mark the 35th anniversary of the Badger Institute, the state’s oldest and most respected policy research organization. It takes place Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Wisconsin Club in Milwaukee.

Feulner served as president of the Heritage Foundation from 1977 to 2013 and again from 2017 to 2018, transforming a small policy shop into an American powerhouse of conservative ideas.

Under his guidance, Heritage took a leading role in informing and shaping national policy during several administrations. It is estimated that 60% of the 2,000 proposals in the foundation’s Mandate for Leadership were implemented or initiated by the end of Reagan's first year in office.

Over the years, Feulner has been listed as one of the 100 most influential conservatives in America (the Daily Telegraph), the 6th most powerful conservative in Washington (Karl Rove) and one of “the 100 Americans the Left hates most” (Townhall magazine). He is a Bradley Prize winner, recipient of the Charles Hoeflich Lifetime Achievement Award and the author of nine books.
