Dear MoveOn member,
In an incredibly dangerous development for our democracy, pro-Trump Big
Lie conspiracy theorists in key states won their Republican primaries last
week.^1 These Steve Bannon puppets are on a path toward winning decisive
control over our elections in several battleground states.
If they win in November, they will not only pass laws that further
disenfranchise low-income voters and people of color, they will also have
the power to count votes, throw out ballots, and officially declare the
winners and losers of elections.
These MAGA extremists—every single one of them handpicked by Donald Trump
himself—will shamelessly use that power to ensure Trump wins in 2024, no
matter the true result of the vote.^2
This November's election is the only thing that stands between our
democracy and these radical, white supremacist candidates.
That's why MoveOn is running an unprecedented effort to invest $30 million
into the midterms this fall. We knew early on that this year was going to
be like no other, and we have been preparing for months to confront it
head-on. Our plan is to turn out exactly the voters who will turn the tide
on the primary results of a MAGA Republican Party.
But as a member-funded organization, MoveOn needs your help to execute our
plan. Will you chip in $5 a month to defeat Trump's
handpicked Big Lie candidates? Your monthly contribution will help provide
stable, predictable funding and allows MoveOn make more informed budget
decisions that increase the impact of our work.

In Arizona, the Republican nominee for governor is now Kari Lake, who
"holds a special place in [Trump's] heart" because of her Big Lie
fanaticism.^3
Lake has made election lies and conspiracy theories the keystone of her
campaign, repeatedly charging that President Biden is "illegitimate,"
arguing that Trump is the true president, and vowing to decertify and
overturn the results of the 2020 election in order to immediately return
Trump to the White House.^4
Lake is running alongside Mark Finchem, who has now officially won the
Republican nomination for secretary of state, the official who oversees
voter registration and elections.
Finchem was present at the January 6 insurrection in Washington, D.C., and
he openly identifies as a member of the Oath Keepers militia, a white
supremacist organization whose leader was charged with seditious
conspiracy for his alleged role in plotting the January 6 attack.^5
In Michigan, the Republican nominee for secretary of state is now Kristina
Karamo, a MAGA extremist who is so anti-democracy that she supports giving
the Republican-controlled Michigan legislature the power to decide
elections.^6
Still, we have reason for hope. In 2020, we faced great odds, and together
we defeated Trump. And while midterm elections are typically very bad for
the president's party, polls are starting to turn against Republicans.^7
And radical Republican overreach is backfiring: In Kansas, a state Trump
won by 15 points, voters roundly defeated an amendment to the state
constitution to deny people bodily autonomy and self-determination,
showing the power of abortion access as a motivating issue for voters.^8
We can win, but only if we work together. Will you chip in
$5 a month to ensure Trump's coup is stopped and his MAGA
candidates are defeated? Consistent, monthly donations increase your
impact because they help ensure all facets of our campaign plan, from TV
ads to get-out-the-vote efforts, are fully funded.

Thanks for all you do.
