It was fire! Will you support our work to keep up the conversation with the Speaker of the House?

Dear Friend —

We founded Muslim Advocates almost 15 years ago to secure a seat at the table for American Muslims. This week, we created a table representing the diverse American Muslim community to have a conversation with one of the most powerful leaders in our country .

Thanks to your support, Muslim Advocates requested and then held an official meeting between the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, and members of the American Muslim community. Our delegation reflected the incredible racial, ethnic, sectarian and gender diversity of the American Muslim experience. We brought your voice to that table.

We shared some of the most pressing concerns facing our community — and Speaker Pelosi listened. When we discussed the pain of families being torn apart by the Muslim Ban, she listened, then spoke about the affected families in her own congressional district. When we talked about the fear that Muslim elected officials face upon receiving death threats online, she listened, then talked about the importance of holding social media companies responsible for the violence that’s inspired by their platforms.

Speaker Pelosi concluded the meeting with the hope that this meeting was the beginning of continued conversation and dialogue on major issues facing American Muslims. And with your support, together, we can push for progress on critical issues like passage of the NO BAN Act and holding social media companies accountable next year.

As I sat next to one of the most powerful people — and one of the most powerful women — in the world, I realized how far we’ve come as a community and as an organization. Muslim Advocates is not just one voice, one seat at the table. You helped us create a table with many seats, with many different voices, representing the American Muslim experience.

Please take a moment to reflect: how much does this table mean to you?

An end-of-year gift [[link removed]] — at an amount that is meaningful to you — will help keep us at the table with Speaker Pelosi and other key congressional leaders. Your support will enable us to lift up your voice in the halls of power in 2020 and beyond.

I will make a gift to keep my voice at the table. [[link removed]]

Sincerely,
