Nobody ever wants to be in a situation where navigating our health care system becomes a big part of their life. But when it does happen — when you get sick or injured — you shouldn’t have to worry about financial ruin on top of getting yourself well.

As a breast cancer survivor, this issue is personal to me, and it’s a big reason I entered public service. I believe to my core that our health care system should put patients first — not special interests who want to use patients to maximize their own profits.

I’m proud of the work that Jared and I have done together these last four years to save Coloradans money on health care: capping the cost of prescription drugs like insulin, cracking down on surprise out-of-network billing, reducing insurance premiums, and making behavioral health a major priority.

But here’s the reality: when it comes to health care in Colorado, who we have leading this state really matters.

The progress we’ve made together wouldn’t have been possible if we hadn’t won the 2018 election. And in just under three months, we’re going to have another election, which will put all the progress we’ve made together to the test.
