“Thinking Big” with Brandi Collins-Dexter

Why do Black voters and the modern day Democratic Party have such a fragile relationship? In the forthcoming Black Skinhead: Reflections on Blackness and Our Political Future, Brandi Collins-Dexter examines the political diversity of Black America and how Black culture and nationalism have shifted, challenging the assumption that Black people will always align with the Democratic Party. In her debut book, reviewers praise Collins-Dexter as she “narrates a powerful story about a Black America that had become disillusioned with the failed promises of their country.”

We’ll discuss issues of political identity, power, and economy through the lens of Black voters and hear her perspective on how we can repair a fracturing relationship to create an inclusive, prosperous collective future.
