Hiya –
Did you know that Special Olympics athletes are advocates at heart? It’s true!
As athletes find their community, grow their confidence, and tell their stories through Special Olympics, they become powerful advocates for a more inclusive world. Take Colorado athlete Micah Compton.
Micah started playing sports with Special Olympics when he was 11 years old, but recently he has taken a more public platform, sharing with the world how Special Olympics changed his life and made him feel accepted and respected. In 2021, Micah participated in Capitol Hill Day, educating lawmakers about the stigmatization and stereotyping people with intellectual disabilities (ID) face every day.
Micah may not have joined Special Olympics intending to change the world, but he’s doing just that. Now, Micah inspires others to believe in a more inclusive and loving future for everyone. By sharing his personal experience, Micah is making a difference in the world for today and tomorrow, and for years to come.
Give us a thumbs up if you’re inspired to help create a more inclusive world like Micah.
