John — Hi, I’m Yeya, the proud abuela of Maxwell. I don’t speak English, but my wonderful grandson helped me translate this email.

I came here from Cuba, Maxwell’s mother in tow, during the freedom flights in the late 1960s.

I worked 70+ hours a week in factories just to eat and have a roof over our heads. I’m proud of my story, a testament to the resilience and drive of immigrants everywhere fighting to give the next generation a better life.

But things were made much harder than they needed to be due to a system that took advantage of us. Sixty years later, a great majority of immigrants are still subjected to starvation wages, illegal employment practices, and hazardous work conditions.

I knew that by standing up for what is right with this campaign, that my grandson Maxwell would be attacked by those who have benefited from the status quo for far too long. Something no grandmother ever wants to see. But I trust there are more people who share Maxwell’s vision for a more just world. Can I count on you to rush $27 now? >> ([link removed])

Even in the face of adversity, I was inspired to keep going by the potential to build a better future for my family, a drive that many of us immigrants share.

The resilience that guided me in my journey is the same resilience that Maxwell embodies every day out on the campaign trail.

He is a courageous soul who has dedicated his life to fighting for the greater good and being the change we want to see in the world. John, I couldn’t be more proud!

John, I know that together, we can achieve the change we desperately need and help Maxwell win this seat to build that better future I dreamt of when I left Cuba all those years ago. Can you rush $27 in the next 24 hours to help my grandson reach his goal? >> ([link removed])
