John,

There's a lot going on in Washington, but I wanted to make sure this news didn't get lost in the shuffle -- because it's important.

Last week, Congress passed the PACT Act -- a bill to provide healthcare benefits to veterans exposed to burn pits. My opponent Young Kim voted against this bill.

As a doctor, it's hard not to be enraged by this. Countless men and women answered the call to serve their country in Iraq and Afghanistan after 9/11. Upwards of 86% were exposed to the toxic open-air burn pits where chemicals, hazardous materials, and weaponry were incinerated.

The dangerous fumes breathed by our soldiers are linked to various cancers, respiratory conditions, and neurological disorders. It pains me to know that many have endured without treatment due to red tape.

This is not the first time Young Kim has disrespected veterans. In the weeks leading up to the June primary, she lobbed dishonest attacks at her opponent -- a decorated combat pilot. She campaigns on working “across the aisle" to ensure veterans receive their benefits and treatment. Her record indicates that was an outright lie.

We owe it to our veterans to have someone in Congress fighting for their health -- not denigrating them and paying lip service. Chip in $5 right now to help oust Young Kim and flip this seat.
