After three attempts, the Honoring our PACT Act of 2022, the bill that will expand VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits and other toxic substances, has finally passed the Senate –– no thanks to Todd Young. 

I served for six years in the United States Navy as a nuclear submariner during the Persian Gulf War. I was the nuclear electrician in the sub’s reactor plant, and passed the strenuous U.S. Navy Dive School.

The United States is proud of its veterans. Veterans should be treated with the respect and care they deserve. Not petty indifferences that had no bearing on the bill itself.

Todd Young voted NO — TWICE — on this bill, for no other reason than partisan political games.

Politicians like to talk a lot about veterans, but action to reform veterans’ services in this country has been embarrassingly slow. 

There is a lot of work to do to ensure our veterans get the care and services they deserve. This bill was a good first step towards taking meaningful action for our country's heroes. Todd Young may have finally come around to vote yes on this bill, but it shouldn’t have taken that long — we need a Senator that always stands up to support our veterans, not just when voters step up and pressure him into it.
