Folks,

After a grueling, overnight vote-a-rama, the Senate finally passed the Inflation Reduction Act yesterday. I couldn’t be more excited for all the good this bill will do. Here’s what we made happen:

- We’re fighting back against inflation: I’ve been hearing from folks and small businesses all over Montana about the challenges rising costs are causing. This bill is going to ease the burden on all of us as we work to bring down rising gas, energy, and health care costs.

- We’re paying down the deficit: This piece of legislation will decrease the deficit by hundreds of billions of dollars, giving our economy a boost and providing future economic certainty for American families.

- We’re lowering health care costs: We’re finally allowing Medicare to negotiate costs for rising prescription drug prices and capping out-of-pocket expenses for Medicare recipients.

- We’re investing in our climate: We’re investing in clean American energy, decreasing our dependence on foreign fossil fuels, and creating good manufacturing jobs in the process.

- All without raising taxes a cent for Montana families — corporations will finally pay their fair share.

The Senate got all this done without a single Republican vote . Vice President Harris cast the tie-breaking vote after a 50-50 split right down party lines. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:

My Republican colleagues are more interested in turning the Senate into a legislative graveyard than making any progress for hard-working Americans.

If grassroots supporters like you had not worked so hard over the past several elections to help flip the Senate blue, none of the great things in this bill would be a reality. That’s why every election matters so much — especially the one coming up this fall.
