We can't believe this — our opponent just mailed flyers out across NY-16 that artificially darkened Jamaal's skin color in a new and racist low for this campaign.
This Republican-style, incideniary, racist tactic has no place in a Democratic primary. We have to push back — can you rush a contribution right now to help us reelect Jamaal?
John, we're shocked but not surprised at this new low. In 2020, a super PAC ran ads that were so racist against Jamaal that our former opponent had to disavow them. Now, those who want to unseat Jamaal are up to the same disgusting tricks.
Jamaal's policies and his advocacy for our communities are popular, so our opponent has turned to bigotry in a desperate attempt to win. Take a look what he had to say:
“To be Black in America is to deal with multiple forms of racism on a consistent basis. This is one of them.
“There is a ugly history behind facial distortion to spread hate and disdain for political purposes. This is why voters were angered. This is also why we introduced the African American History Act and the resolution to fight hate and antisemitism. The isms and phobias in America are killing us, and stopping us from reaching our potential as a country. We need to be better educated to stop the hate that's eating our country and democracy alive.

Fighting back won't be easy, but we will be able to do it with your help. Our opponents combined outraised us 2:1 last fundraising quarter, and they're spending that extra cash on Republican tactics like this to try to defeat us. But even if they have the money and the establishment on their side, we have the people with us.
