John,
Yesterday’s Senate vote to pass the Inflation Reduction Act represents a big victory for the American people.
From lowering drug prices for older Americans to combatting the climate crisis to keeping healthcare affordable for 13 million low- and middle-income Americans―this bill takes historic steps toward lowering Americans’ out-of-pocket costs on everything from energy consumption to health care. And, it’s fully paid for by making billion-dollar corporations pay more of their fair share in taxes.
Thanks to your hard work, no anti-immigrant amendments passed during the Senate’s vote-a-rama.
However, Senate Republicans were successful in blocking a cap on insulin prices for millions of Americans (although the cap for people on Medicare remains in the bill). Republicans (and some Democrats) also carved out more loopholes for corporations, saving them billions of dollars in taxes. There were successful efforts, though, to replace the revenue lost from other fair sources. Nothing altered the agreement struck with Senator Manchin to keep out critical priorities such as providing health care coverage to 2 million poor people, or expanding child care, home care, affordable housing, nutrition aid, or reviving the expanded Child Tax Credit. We will keep fighting to meet these needs in the coming months.
But this climate, energy, and health care package is urgently needed―for all of us, and particularly for low- and moderate-income families, and communities of color.
Donate today to ensure the Inflation Reduction Act passes the House this week, and to keep fighting for the needs of working people, seniors, and all marginalized communities.

Thanks to you, we are on the verge of an important victory for our country. Let’s keep fighting until the Inflation Reduction Act lands on President Biden’s desk.
Thank you,
