It’s truly outrageous. The latest report by the Huffington Post reveals that my opponent openly questions whether Non-native English speakers and people with disabilities should have the right to vote.
One responsibility of the Secretary of State is to ensure that every eligible voter has equal access to the ballot box. Comments like these make it clear that my opponent would turn her back on that responsibility. She is not fit to serve.
Minnesota’s primary election is tomorrow, and we need to have the strongest showing possible. We’re working on getting people out to vote and we need to raise another $8k today for our final push. Will you please consider chipping in $5 or more now?

As Secretary of State, I’ve been deeply engaged in ensuring ballot access for Americans whose native language is not English. I’m proud to have increased the number of languages in which we produce election material from five to twelve! That’s an extension of a Minnesota tradition since 1896 - when we first started printing election materials in other languages. The languages have changed since then, but our commitment to that access has not.
I grew up in a bilingual household, and my mom preferred technical documents in her native language - as ANY of us would. To cast suspicion on voters who use state and federal laws to help access their freedom to vote is deeply disturbing and disqualifying.
As for voters with a disability, my late father suffered from debilitating Parkinson’s disease late in his life. I went with him to his polling places to help him stand up - and to make sure he could cast his own ballot as he wanted it cast. To suggest that my father, a proud US Army Veteran, should have his right to vote questioned because of a disability is deeply wrong. As long as I’m Secretary of State, I will continue to expand access to the ballot for eligible voters with disabilities, for New Americans, and for anybody else who needs it.
With Minnesota’s primary tomorrow, we need a grassroots surge of support. We’re making our final push to talk to voters but we need your help. Will you please chip in $5, $10 or whatever you can right now?
Thanks,
Steve
