The enthusiastic effort put forth this year by our grassroots organizers greatly influenced the 2019 municipal elections. Their efforts notably increased voter turnout and were proven to be indispensable in helping to elect the majority of Young Democratic candidates statewide. This year’s Grassroots Pioneers have demonstrated how building a positive grassroots movement is not only immensely rewarding, but it is also effective.
It was their efforts which galvanized students at college campus events; they organized debate watch parties to increase political awareness, helped to organize visits from 2020 candidates, and have led a variety of other statewide activities. Importantly, some even led critical education campaigns on their campuses to ensure all students know their voting rights despite Republicans' best efforts to confuse and complicate the voting process.
These young leaders have tirelessly advocated for change. The message that they have broadcasted is that the future of this country is ours and that the only way forward is by empowering people with a clear and resounding message of inclusivity and tolerance.
PLEASE JOIN US IN HONORING THESE DEMOCRATIC STUDENT ORGANIZERS ON FRIDAY AT 5PM!
