Jack, the Michigan primary results are in.

Trump-backed challenger John Gibbs beat Republican House incumbent Peter Meijer (one of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump). Another Trump-endorsed, anti-abortion candidate Tudor Dixon has won the Republican nomination for governor.

In addition to fending off MAGA militants, progressives are working to affirm that every Michigander has the fundamental right to reproductive freedom, which involves the right to make and carry out decisions without political interference about all matters relating to pregnancy, including birth control, abortion, prenatal care, and childbirth. Daily Kos partner Michigan Voices has partnered with other organizations to get the Reproductive Freedom for All measure on the ballot this fall.

With such high stakes, the Michigan election will have critical implications for the rest of the country.
