Hey John,
We’ve got some exciting news to share! Last Friday, Governor Holcomb signed SEA 2 into law, which included his plan to return $1 billion to Hoosiers. Eric asked us to make sure that all Hoosiers are aware of what that means for the relief officially coming your way.
The plan will return more than $1 billion back to Hoosiers in the form of $200 inflation relief payments (or $400 for a married couple). Additionally, 300,000 to 900,000 Hoosiers on Social Security and disability benefits will qualify to receive the $200 as a tax credit when they file their 2022 taxes.
Also included in the bill that contains Gov. Holcomb’s $1 billion relief plan is $1 billion in pension stabilization funding, a combined investment of nearly $85 million in tax incentives and agency funding to support social service programs, and a cap on the gas use tax.
In the upcoming months, the sales tax on purchasing gas may fluctuate, but this bill ensures that it cannot go above $0.295 per gallon for the next year. Governor Holcomb knows the hardship that national inflation has brought on Hoosiers, and he is proud to be putting protections in place to prevent further suffering.
“Today [Friday], I proudly signed Senate Enrolled Act 2 to return $1 billion back to Hoosier taxpayers. This fulfills what I set out to accomplish when calling the General Assembly into special session in order to help Hoosiers hurting from historically high inflation. I am also especially grateful for the nearly $100 million in long overdue increased funding to support the health of our Hoosier mothers and babies. While there is still more to do, better access and awareness of all our programs will be critical to improving our infant and maternal mortality rates – a long-standing priority of my administration.” – Gov. Holcomb
Accomplishments like this one are giant leaps forward in Governor Holcomb’s mission to Build One Indiana for All. As always, thanks for your continued support.
