Last week, the Trump administration kicked over 700,000 people off of
their food stamps just weeks before the holidays. Now, they’re proposing
$738 billion in defense spending.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Behind closed doors, Republicans
stripped out an amendment that would make huge steps towards ending the
war in Yemen, where millions of lives are at risk.
Refusing to take a stand for international peace is an astonishing act of
moral cowardice, and we owe the American people far more than leaving the
door open to yet another escalation in the Middle East.

support to help convince my colleagues to head back to the drawing board.
Can you sign your name to stand for peace right now?

This “compromise” only benefits Donald Trump, his Saudi friends, and the
Pentagon contractors of the military industrial complex. Handing over $738
billion to be spent on more bombs, planes, and destruction while our
infrastructure is crumbling is injustice — plain and simple.
Where is our compassion? How can we allow our neighbors to go into medical
bankruptcy, our friends to be evicted under crippling rent increases, and
our children to go into massive student loan debt as we spend nearly a
trillion dollars on war?
How can we stand by as people in Yemen desperately cry out to the
international community for relief, for food, for medical supplies, and
for an end to this bloody conflict? This is our chance to stand up for
what’s right, and reclaim our role as the steward of global good — not a
harbinger of endless conflict.

name to demand a better NDAA?

Remember: the war in Iraq was not just a blunder by George W. Bush — it
was a failure on the part of members of Congress who voted alongside him!
At some point, we must recognize that our mission to end endless wars
cannot be fulfilled if we continue to fund those wars. These billions of
dollars could fund tuition-free college for all Americans, high-speed
internet for everyone, and so much more.
It’s time to start listening to the American people.
