John – 48 years ago today, President Richard Nixon resigned from office. It was one of the most important moments of modern American history.
Over the past year, I’ve spent quite a bit of time watching the Watergate hearings, reading books on the topic, and any other materials I could find. And that knowledge has, unfortunately, come in pretty handy in the aftermath of the attack on our democracy.
The brave whistleblowers who exposed the truth, the lawmakers who stood up to hold the president accountable, the voters who demanded action from Congress – they did us a great service. John, it’s our turn now.
The first step is to send pro-democracy, pro-justice leaders to Congress.
But right now, I’m virtually tied with a right-wing GOP challenger who won’t even admit that President Biden won the 2020 election. Make no mistake: in Congress, Donald Trump’s wish will be her command.
Can I count on you to contribute $10, $15, $25 – whatever you can – to help me restore truth, justice, and accountability to Washington?
It’s time to act swiftly and decisively, to defend our country against all its enemies, foreign and domestic. I hope you’ll join me in that fight.
Gratefully,
Elaine Luria
