Hi John. I hope you and your family are doing well!
I know August can be a busy time for folks with the new school year just around the corner. Here are a few quick updates on some of the concrete and bipartisan solutions we’re working on to make a difference:
New Pop Up Office: This Wednesday in Spring Hill
Whether we agree on everything or not, my team and I are always here to serve you, regardless of party. If you’re struggling with the federal government for any reason – whether its backlogged veterans’ benefits, issues with Social Security and Medicare, or difficulty contacting the IRS – please give us a call.
In fact, we’ve helped more than 4,000 hardworking Kansans since I took office in 2019. We’ve also now helped recover more than $10 million owed to local taxpayers. We’d be honored to help you, too.
If you aren’t able to make it this week, don’t worry.
As always, if you can’t make it, you can also always call our office to get help right away. You can reach us in Overland Park at (913) 621-0832 or in KCK (913) 766-3993.

Lowering Costs for Families – Beginning at the Kitchen Table
I know Kansans are continuing to have a hard time with inflation, including the cost of gas and groceries. No one should have to worry about their budget getting squeezed even more.
That’s why I’m pleased to share with you that I recently began serving you on the House Agriculture Committee. Agriculture is a key part of Kansas’ economy. In this new role, I’m pushing for bipartisan and concrete solutions to help lower costs for Kansas families.
In fact, I was grateful to recently host U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs, Jenny Lester Moffitt, in Kansas to help push for progress.
Under Secretary Moffitt and I toured National Beef’s processing plant in Kansas City, Kansas. We also hosted a roundtable discussion with agricultural leaders, farmers, and producers on strengthening supply chains and expanding meat & poultry production.
I was glad to have Under Secretary Moffitt come to our region to hear ideas and concerns from our agriculture community who are feeling the recent inflationary pressures first-hand. Lowering costs, including the prices of meat and poultry, continues to be a main priority of mine.
That’s why I joined with other Kansas lawmakers in a bipartisan push for investigations into anti-competitive behavior in the meatpacking industry. Additionally, a law I voted for is supporting independent meatpackers to increase competition and lower prices. This strategy is supported by the Kansas Farm Bureau and the Kansas Livestock Association.

Major Bipartisan Bill to Help Veterans Set to Become Law
Last Tuesday, Republicans and Democrats finally came together to pass the Honoring our PACT Act.
This bipartisan bill will help ensure 3.5 million veterans exposed to toxins and airborne hazards while deployed will get the health care they need.
I was proud to vote for the PACT Act when it passed the House of Representatives. Please click here to learn more about this bipartisan bill to help our veterans.
My team and I are here to help local veterans and service members however we can.
My mother served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. I learned so much about service, sacrifice, and dedication to country through her. It’s about time that we kept our promise of caring and supporting our veterans after they return home from service.
If you or someone you know is a veteran and needs help, please know that my office is here for you. We have a Wounded Warrior on our team and a Gold Star Fellow. We’re here to help with backlogged benefits, VA health care issues, and more.
Please click here to visit our Help for Veterans page to learn more.
It’s an honor to serve you. I know good ideas can come from Republicans and Democrats. I’m always here to serve every person and corner of our community to the best of my ability – regardless of party.
If you have any questions or thoughts you’d like to share, please contact me.
My warmest regards,
Sharice L. Davids Member of Congress
