OVC is pleased to announce that registration for the 17th National Indian Nations Conference will open on Monday, August 15th. The conference is scheduled for December 6?9, 2022, at the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Reservation in Palm Springs, CA.

This conference will focus on the unique needs of American Indian and Alaska Native crime victims and provide training for victim service providers; law enforcement officials; prosecutors; judges; medical and mental health professionals; social workers; and victim advocates at the tribal, federal, state, and local levels.

The agenda for the event is still being finalized, but we are excited to announce some of our Keynote Speakers:

• Advocate Jeremy NeVilles-Sorell will present on Healing Historical Trauma to Build Resiliency, Unity, and Empowerment in the field of victim services.
• Author Tommy Orange, of the National Best-Seller There There, will talk about his experience using digital storytelling in Native communities, and how he navigated writing about some of the issues Native American people face today, such as substance abuse, historical trauma, and missing and murdered Indigenous Women.
• Indigenous Wellness Practitioners Johanna Corpeno and Waylon ?Pee? Pahona will share a dynamic and energetic session promoting self-awareness, self-care, and resiliency.
