Dear John,
Empower to Plan is committed to partnering with organisations working to
address the unmet need for family planning. Our new partner, the
Turimiquire Foundation [3], is filling the gaps in Venezuela’s broken
national healthcare system.
Over the past 25 years, Turimiquire has delivered 3,500 SEXUAL AND
REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND EDUCATION WORKSHOPS, REACHING ALMOST 70,000
PARTICIPANTS. They offer logistical and financial support for
contraception, including the provision of IUDs, implants, vasectomies and
tubal ligations.

In the Turimiquire valley where they work, they are also spearheading
agroecology, permaculture and reforestation initiatives. As part of their
_recipe for a thriving community_, they recognise that FAMILY PLANNING AND
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION GO HAND IN HAND.
Now, with Empower to Plan funding, they will be able to expand their
services in comprehensive sex education, reaching SEVEN DIFFERENT PARTNER
SCHOOLS with 40 ENGAGING WORKSHOPS ON SEXUAL HEALTH, REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
AND CONTRACEPTION.
_“In each sexual and reproductive health workshop, I see young people
overcoming taboos and imposed sociocultural norms. For those young people
who have already started having sexual relations, our workshops provide
them with the tools to do so in a healthy, voluntary and responsible way,
making use of contraceptive methods. This allows them to continue with
their life plans, pursue their dreams and improve their quality of life as
well as their relationship with the natural world.”_
