Trump repeatedly pressured GOP state officials to overturn the results of the election – even though he knew there was no evidence of fraud.
He knew that there were armed rioters on Jan. 6, he pressured the Secret Service to remove metal detectors at his rally, and he urged these armed insurrectionists to march to the Capitol.
Trump grew agitated when his team refused to let him go to the Capitol with the rioters – and he even tried to grab the steering wheel away from his driver.
He chose not to act as rioters breached the Capitol and refused to ask them to disperse – waiting over three hours to tweet that the mob should stay peaceful.
The evidence speaks for itself: Trump holds DIRECT responsibility for the violent, deadly insurrection. But with the ex-president still spreading his Big Lie about the 2020 election, sowing distrust in our elections and encouraging the GOP’s attacks on voting rights, it’s clear that our democracy will suffer if Trump makes it back into the Oval Office.
