The ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ Is Built on Lies

GettyImages-1412537771.jpg

The Big Lie: Congress is close to passing a massive tax-and-spend bill at a time when inflation is rampant and the economy shrinking. Proponents of the bill make several claims, none of which are true, as our experts show.

Cut inflation? No. This bill would worsen the inflationary squeeze on middle America.

Tax only those making 400,000 or more? No. Everyone will pay higher taxes. (See the chart below.) And the $80 billion IRS slush fund will mean more audits for middle-class families. We have the facts.

Make a difference for the climate? No. Even eliminating all U.S. carbon emissions would reduce global temperatures by less than 0.2 degrees Celsius by 2100, our research shows.

China Takes Center Stage, Again

In the news: China’s threats around House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan brought the communist nation’s belligerence to the foreground. Here’s Heritage’s take.

A missed opportunity: “Why, if we were going to bother Beijing anyway, didn’t President Joe Biden and his administration do something more,” writes James Carafano, vice president of the Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy.

Biden won’t admit it: Every week, we learn more about the Chinese Communist Party’s economic espionage and covert influence. Still, the Biden administration won’t admit that China is the No. 1 threat to the U.S.

We need to kick China out of our back yard: Here’s how: A Plan for Decisive Action Against the Threat of CCP Land Use in the U.S.

WATCH: The Left’s War on Pregnancy Centers

What: A powerful new Daily Signal documentary focuses on the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Attacked: Pro-abortionists attacked the pregnancy center, smashing windows and threatening employees.

Widespread: The documentary, produced by Heritage’s news outlet, shows how widespread these attacks have been even though you probably haven’t heard much from the corrupt corporate media.

Watch it here.

The Woke Mob Attacks the Founders’ Homes

GettyImages-564119771.jpg

Next up at the woke gallows: Leftist cancel culture strikes again—this time against Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. Management at the historic homes of both of these founders has revamped their respective tours and educational programming to gloss over Jefferson and Madison’s numerous contributions and instead focus primarily on slavery.

They’re reshaping history: Those who own and operate these historic houses have a significant say over how the American founding is taught, and these revisions are part of what professor William Allen calls an attempt “to remake history.”

And they’re gaslighting us about it: Our work prompted a response from the staff at Monticello and Montpelier, who denied that they are guilty of presenting a warped view of our founders.

ALWAYS ON OFFENSE

Heritage Files Third Lawsuit Against Biden Administration

Oversight: The Heritage Oversight Project has filed hundreds of Freedom of Information Act requests with the Biden administration.

Suing for documents: On several occasions, administration officials refused to comply with the requests for documents, so Heritage has sued to obtain them.

The latest: Heritage’s latest lawsuit demands information showing whether Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas conspired with open-borders advocates in the private sector to cripple immigration enforcement. Read about the lawsuit here.

Another Win Against ‘Rogue Prosecutors’

GettyImages-1236742140.jpg

The news: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the suspension of leftist State Attorney Andrew Warren after Warren pledged not to enforce certain duly enacted laws.

Why it matters: Not only do these “rogue prosecutors”—a term we coined—undermine the rule of law “they also wreak havoc in their communities where frequently crime rates, particularly violent crime rates, have increased,” said legal fellow Zack Smith.

Another win for Heritage: We’ve led the national campaign to expose these “rogue prosecutors,” and compiled all our work on a “Rogue Prosecutors” webpage.
