The U.S. economy is knocking it out of the park globally.

John,

"It's the economy, stupid!"

– a very popular saying in politics

You see, at the end of the day, people vote on all kinds of issues that are important to them, whether it be climate change, foreign policy, veterans affairs, you name it. But the number one issue people care about is the economy.

The reason I’m bringing this up today and showing you this clip from China, the world's 2nd largest economy, is to show you the reality of what is happening across the globe and how we in the U.S. stack up.

Globally speaking, we are overcoming a pandemic that shut down life as we know it for two years. A cataclysmic event such as Covid-19 is, without a doubt, going to have lasting effects on all of us for at least a few years. And when I say "all of us", I mean all of humanity.

And let's face it – we know today that here in the U.S., we are blessed. Quite a few of us have had our 2nd booster, including me, and yet we know that in some developing countries, people still can't get their first dose.

In the U.S. things are not perfect, but let’s compare the U.S. to our allies and adversaries across the globe to really see how we stack up. Specifically, today we are going to talk about the economy.

Economies Globally

To reiterate, China is the world's second largest economy, and yet they have tanks on the streets protecting the banks. Why? So that the banks are not overrun by folks who simply want to withdraw their savings because they no longer trust the Chinese-backed banks.

What does that tell you about the state of affairs in Chinese markets? It’s not just China by the way: similar scenes of people storming banks to withdraw their own funds have also taken place in Lebanon, Greece, and even Russia.  We even saw that here in the U.S. once, but it was back in the 1930's, during the height of the Great Depression.

Strength of the Dollar

China is still seeing lockdowns, and their currency continues to plummet despite the Chinese government doing everything they can, which includes illegal activities.  Meanwhile, the American Dollar is soaring. Our currency is the most powerful currency in the world, so dominant that in some countries it is illegal to own U.S. currency. Yes, I too was shocked to learn that you can go to jail in some countries for trying to pay for goods and services in U.S. dollars.

I just came back from Europe, after having travelled all over the continent. Over there, they complained about their local economies and praised ours. I visited many places and people said the same thing. They attacked us on other things, such as guns and abortion, but when it came to the economy, they would all trade with us in a split second.

Right Wing Spin

So when Fox News propaganda starts to peddle their crap on the economy and how poorly we are doing, stop and ask yourself for a second: why aren't they comparing our economy with others across the globe?!?

In the U.K. and Italy, their economic situations are so bad they had to replace their right-wing prime ministers. Meanwhile, under President Biden, we are seeing historically low unemployment rates.  Again, it's not perfect, but we need to understand where we were, what we had to overcome, and what we still must overcome.

Since I’m building a home, I can tell you that the costs of goods are starting to come down. That’s a good thing! The cost of gas is starting to come down; food, groceries, and meat are all dropping in price. Do not fall for the GOP's false narrative that the economy is doing terribly, and that President Biden is to blame. That's the farthest thing from the truth. Things are not great, but the future looks bright. Unless, of course, this November goes poorly.

If, God forbid, the Republicans take a majority in Congress, all our progress will be altered. They are, after all, the party of obstruction. Their goal is to halt the advancement of their own communities and to block Democrats from helping theirs.  Moscow Mitch has even said exactly that – he will do everything in his power to block President Biden. That's his goal in life. So let's make sure that doesn't happen.
