We are less than 100 days from Election Day, and one of California’s most
important seats is a statistical tie.

The Cook Political Report has Rep. Katie Porter up by just three points,
and as NBC says, the race is a key indicator of how the rest of the
country will go.(1,2)

Rep. Porter is fighting for reproductive rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, and
corporate accountability for inflation, and we need to fight for her.
That’s why Courage California is conducting polling in Orange County in
order to hone our message, and then we are going into communities to
convince voters just what’s at stake this election. But our ambitious
plans depend on what donations we can raise right now.

Just two months ago, we were convinced a red wave was coming.

However, the landscape has changed. Roe v. Wade was overturned.
Republicans are losing popularity due to their unwillingness to pass
legislation to protect reproductive rights or same-sex marriage, or combat
inflation or climate change.

On the other hand, Trump-endorsed candidates are still winning. Extremist
MAGA politicians swept the primaries in Arizona just this week.(3)
Republicans are spending millions to spread lies about inflation.

We need to cut through the noise with clear information to voters about
who will vote in their best interests.

Campaigning is hugely expensive. From polling costs to advertisements for
our Courage Voter Guide to printed materials for our on-the-ground
canvassing, our budget is being stretched to its limits. We will have to
cut back if we don’t have an influx of donations immediately.
