Team,

I was fortunate to be born into a family steeped in patriotism and military service. Since I was young, I was taught to treat our veterans with dignity and respect. Those teachings have not only followed me to my role in Congress, but have been the driving force behind many votes I’ve made and bills I’ve sponsored.

Servicemen, women, and military veterans occupy an important place in the heart of our nation, and their legacies deserve to be preserved and protected. That’s why I fought tirelessly for 17 years, spearheading the campaign for the creation of the National World War II Memorial, dedicated in 2004 in our nation’s capital.

I’m proud to say the work honoring WWII heroes has not stopped there. Just last week, the House passed my bill – the Greatest Generation Commemorative Coin Act, which received bipartisan support. The President signed it into law this week.

The Act will benefit our country two-fold. Through commemorative coins, we will unite to honor the legacies of those who fought to protect our freedoms while sales of the coins will fund repairs and enhanced educational programming at the National World War II Memorial.

The passage of the Greatest Generation Commemorative Coin Act is proof that we can unite and bridge the gap of partisan politics - because our service members will ALWAYS come first.

Sincerely,

Marcy Kaptur

P.S. I will never stop fighting for our veterans so long as I’m able to serve in Congress and be the voice of Ohioans. My Republican opponent wants to flip this seat red. We can’t let him succeed. Can I count on your support and your $5, so we can continue to honor our military and protect our country from dangerous extremism?
