Friend,
I'm in this race for U.S. Senate to expand my unlikely story of opportunity to more Americans. You see, I grew up the daughter of a maid and a janitor – hard-working parents who taught me to "never tire of doing good."
So I took their message to heart: It wasn't easy, but I became the first in my family to graduate college, embarking on what would become a long career of public service.
After serving as a social worker, I joined the police department where I served for 27 years and made history when I became Orlando's first Black female chief of police in 2007.
Today, I proudly represent Florida's 10th Congressional Cistrict as only the third Democrat to hold that position. I took an oath to always fight for what is right – and that's exactly what I did when I held Donald Trump accountable for violating his own oath of office.
So I will make you the same promise I made to my family: I will continue working to do good at every chance I get. With your help, I will defeat Marco Rubio. With your help, I will ensure the Senate reflects the diversity that makes our country strong – and ensure that every voice can be heard.
We've set a goal to raise $20,000 today to power my campaign, and I can't reach it without you, friend. Can you make a $5 donation today to help this little Black girl from the South make history again and win better, stronger leadership for the people of Florida?
Thanks so much for supporting this historic campaign, it's an honor to share this journey with you.
