Dear John,
When ICT community members like you speak, Congress listens. That’s because we’re
not lobbyists-for-hire representing special interests. Instead, ICT supporters are
upstanding people who stand for the timeless values of human rights, peace and freedom
for Tibet.
Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle tell us they know when ICT
supporters get behind a bill, because they receive a flood of emails, phone
calls, petitions and personal visits. Your activism and support helped our work
on the passage of the Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act (RATA) last year and the
introduction of the Tibetan Policy and Support Act of 2019 (TPSA) in September.
But we can’t let up now, John—especially when we have a
chance to get this latest critical legislation passed.
Your year-end gift will help ensure that China faces consequences for its abuses
in Tibet. And thanks to Richard Gere and friends, your contribution will be
matched—doubling your impact.

The Tibetan Policy and Support Act affirms that it is only up to Tibetan
Buddhists to decide how the next Dalai Lama will be chosen—but it is not only a
statement. The bill has teeth, and it will place serious sanctions on Chinese
officials who attempt to appoint their own fake Dalai Lama as the next leader of
Tibetan Buddhism.
Without consequences, China’s authorities will be free to continue their
campaign of oppression until they completely obliterate Tibet and its precious
culture. That is why we need to act now, before it is too late.

When you donate to our matching gift campaign today, you’ll do twice the good to
not only help press for passage of the TPSA, but also ensure that the State Department
keeps its commitments to enforce RATA by identifying and sanctioning Chinese officials
who are responsible for keeping Americans out of Tibet.

Legislation is a powerful tool to make change and it is critical to stopping
China’s takeover of Tibetan culture and protecting the people of Tibet. Make your
most generous gift today, and it will be doubled!

P.S. John, you’ve helped win big legislative victories
for Tibet in recent years. Just think how much more ICT can do with DOUBLE the
funding. Before the new year, take our matching gift challenge to hold China accountable
on Tibet.
