J.D. Scholten for Congress
John --

In 2015, leaders from around the world came together to address a looming public health, environmental, and national security catastrophe and agreed on the most comprehensive, global response. What we’re talking about is climate change.

Two years later, President Donald Trump withdrew our country from this response -- the Paris Climate Agreement -- for no legitimate reason.

This agreement benefits everyone on our planet, especially us in Iowa. But Donald Trump listened to fossil fuel executives over the will of the American people.

Despite the conclusive research on the effects of climate change, Steve King continues to deny its harmful effects.

If you agree that there’s no time like the present to change the course of history, sign our petition demanding the United States rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement.

Steve King is blind to the effects of climate change in our district.

Here’s just a small fraction of what’s going on:
  • We've seen record rainfall that has washed away topsoil and crops. Unprecedented rain has soaked beans in storage until they expand so much they bust through and destroy bins, leaving the crop compromised.
  • In Lehigh (pop. 401) in Webster County, the Des Moines River caused over 96 days of flooding, and the river rose 6 feet in 15 minutes last winter.
  • This year, a late harvest and a wet and cold fall meant that only 43% of corn was harvested by the beginning of November.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. We’ll face more extreme, more expensive, and more frequent challenges.

And worst of all -- what we don’t fix now will make our children’s future bleak. I am where I am today because my parents and grandparents left me with opportunities. We must do the same for our children. I have always believed that we aren’t inheriting the land from our parents, we’re borrowing it from our children.

Sign our petition today: tell Donald Trump to re-enter the Paris Climate Agreement. The cost of staying out is too great to bear.
