I lost two legs fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan. This Purple Heart Day, I want you to know that every minute of the fight was worth it.

You see, I followed in my father’s footsteps and enlisted in the U.S. Army. During my service, I had the honor of serving under the elite Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) as a bomb disposal expert. This meant that life was always dangerous and very often deadly.

Being a bomb technician in this high level of special operations came with a great responsibility. I was tasked with protecting my fellow soldiers from the war’s most deadly weapon, the improvised explosive device (IED). This meant placing myself directly in the line of fire on each and every mission.

The very last IED I protected my fellow soldiers from resulted in sustained catastrophic injuries to myself, which included the loss of both my legs. I’d do it over and over again to save their lives.

How, you might ask, can I say that so confidently? Because it’s clear to me that we cannot win the fight for America First without having teammates by our sides.

That’s why, today, I want to implore you to support conservative veterans running for Congress.

I greatly appreciate your consideration and your continued support to Make America Great Again!
Sincerely,
SSG Brian Mast, U.S. Army (ret.)
