Hi folks —
This email is a little longer than what I typically write, but it’s important and I hope you will take the time to read it.
When I was elected to the House of Representatives almost two years ago, I promised to make a difference in the lives of North Carolinians and to work with anyone and everyone to get things done. And I meant it.
Since then, I’ve listened to folks from across our state and acted on the issues you’ve shared with me in the House — and I’ve successfully worked across party lines to get things done.
Our nation has long been a global leader in science and technology, but we cannot afford to take that position for granted. That’s why I was proud to vote in favor of the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act last month.
This important bill passed with three of my bills and two of my amendments, including legislation to invest in North Carolina-based companies that are breaking new ground every day in medicine, energy, and telecommunications. We’re also helping provide resources to our state’s leading institutions and their students — like NC State, Shaw, St. Augustine’s, and Wake Tech.
The CHIPS Act will accomplish several initiatives I’ve championed since I first came to Congress, all while creating good-paying jobs and fighting inflation. I look forward to seeing President Biden sign this important bill into law on Tuesday.
And late last Friday night, the House also passed my bill to support domestic semiconductor production, helping spur economic growth and create more employment opportunities in North Carolina and across the U.S.
And of course, protecting reproductive freedom is top-of-mind for so many folks right now — I know it is for me. That’s why I didn’t waste a second before joining my House colleagues in not only reintroducing our Women’s Health Protection Act in the House — but also passing our bills to protect the right to contraception and the right to travel to receive reproductive care.
While these bills still face a critical fight in the Senate, I want you to know that I won’t stop fighting until all Americans have full equality under the law and all women have control over their bodies and reproductive health decisions. And I’ll do everything I can to expand our majorities in Congress so we can finally get this critical legislation across the finish line.
As a member of Congress, I have fought hard battles and won. It has all been possible because I’ve had an incredible team of supporters just like you in my corner.
With so many important fights still ahead of us, I’m hoping I can count on your support as we continue this work together.
So, will you chip in just a few dollars to keep our fight going strong? We have so much more work left to do. I’ll need you with me every step of the way.
