Progress on Trade

What to Know: The White House and Congress have reached a tentative deal on the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement, the successor to NAFTA.

The TPPF Take: House Democrats must not let their obsession with impeachment stand in the way of a trade deal important to American families and vital to the economy.

“Focusing solely on impeachment might be—in the Democrats’ eyes—a short-term political win, but tanking the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA) would cause lasting damage U.S. producers—including Texas farmers and ranchers,” says TPPF’s Kevin Roberts. “The Democrats make a serious mistake if they think scuttling the free trade deal will win them any points in the heartland—in the districts they say they represent.”

America is Working

What to Know: The latest jobs numbers shows that lower taxes, more reasonable regulations and more freedom works.

The TPPF Take: More Americans are working than ever before.

“Many economists continue to be confounded by the economy’s resilience in what has become America’s longest expansion in history, at 125 months,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “The federal tax cut signed into law by President Trump in December 2017, combined with a significant rollback in red tape, is the reason for the robust numbers.”
