On Wednesday, Congress tragically lost a trailblazing conservative Congresswoman, Jackie Walorski, along with two of her staffers, Zachary and Emma. As my freshman mentor, Jackie welcomed me to Congress with open arms and an infectious desire to serve the American people. I am heartbroken at her passing. She will be greatly missed by the constituents she worked so hard for, as well as the colleagues who respected her tremendously. My prayers are with Jackie’s husband, Dean, and their entire family, and with the families of Zachery and Emma.
Over in the Senate, Democrats struck a deal to advance Biden’s “Inflation Reduction Act.” This legislation will do the opposite of what its name suggests. It will raise taxes on Americans making under $400,000, breaking President Biden’s promise, and at the same time lower taxes for hedge fund managers by dropping the “carried interest loophole.” It will spend hundreds of billions of dollars on their radical green energy agenda. And it will subsidize the “Affordable Care” Act, another bill that clearly does the exact opposite of its name. More spending with historically high inflation and raising taxes during a recession is a disastrous plan. I am and will continue to be a vocal opponent of raising taxes and supersizing the IRS. The truth is that Americans are not undertaxed; the government is overfed. This should serve us all a reminder of how critical it is to take back the House and Senate this November.
As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can help with.
