Defend Black Voters / Chip In!

Listen up, John — it’s the 57th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act!

But the battle to secure and defend our right to vote didn’t end in 1965. Powerful right-wing forces have been working for decades to roll back progress and stop us from participating in our democracy.

In 2013, the U.S. Supreme Court’s Shelby v. Holder ruling gutted the enforcement powers of the Voting Rights Act. And now the court, composed of even more radical far-right justices like Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett, is set to hear a case that could give state legislatures unchecked power to gerrymander district voting maps, pass discriminatory voting laws and skew our federal elections.

Cycle after cycle, Color Of Change PAC has worked to harness the power of Black voters with hard-hitting and culturally savvy voter education and Get Out The Vote programs that reach millions across the country. We need your help to power our organizing in 2022. Rush a donation of $10 or more to support our work to elect progressives who will defend our democracy and our rights!

While it was President Lyndon B. Johnson who officially signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965 into law, it was the hard work of civil rights activists that moved the nation and stirred Washington to take action to put an end to discriminatory voting practices.

People power WON this historic victory. And with so much at stake in 2022, it’s people power that we need right NOW.

In 2020, Color Of Change PAC led a historic mobilization of volunteers and voters across the country, making more than 6 million voter contacts through digital ads, emails, phone calls, texts, direct mail and hundreds of Black Joy events.

We have more big plans to help elect progressives up and down the ballot this November. But midterms historically have significantly lower voter turnout than presidential election years, so we need all hands on deck. Pitch in whatever you can to help ensure that Black communities have the information and resources they need to turn out and vote in the pivotal 2022 election cycle!
