On August 6, 1965, the Voting Rights Act was signed into law, prohibiting racial discrimination in elections and ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity to participate in our democracy.
But in 2013, the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act’s protections, clearing the way for states to pass a slew of restrictive laws that disenfranchise and discriminate against voters.
So Democrats introduced a bill to RESTORE the Voting Rights Act! And today, on the 57th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act’s original signing, we want to get 5,000 signers urging Congress to pass this bill and restore the Voting Rights Act:

Team,
After the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act and waves of restrictive voting legislation passed in the states, House Democrats stepped up and introduced a law that would restore the Voting Rights Act.
And the House Democrats’ bill PASSED with 219 Democrats in favor and all 212 Republicans opposed! But now, it goes to the deadlocked Senate.
We have to put pressure on the Senate to finally restore the Voting Rights Act, and to protect our democracy and the right to vote for everyone.
So can you sign our petition and urge Congress to restore the Voting Rights Act? [[link removed]]
